LED UV-C Systems Ltd. provides mercury-free, energy-efficient LED UV water disinfection technology, offering safer, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions for domestic, municipal, industrial, and commercial applications.

Why Choose LED UV for Water Treatment?

LED UV technology provides significant advantages over traditional mercury lamps:

  • Mercury-Free and Environmentally Friendly: Traditional UV lamps contain mercury, which is hazardous and expensive to dispose of. LED UV systems eliminate this risk entirely.

  • Compact Design: LEDs have a much smaller footprint, allowing for easier integration into modern and compact water treatment designs.

  • Instant On/Off Functionality: Unlike mercury lamps that require a warm-up period, UV-C LEDs deliver immediate disinfection upon activation.

  • Unlimited Cycling Capability: Frequent on/off switching does not affect the lifespan of LED UV systems, offering flexible and responsive operation.

  • Temperature Independence: LEDs emit UV light without heating the water, reducing the risk of thermal damage and maintaining water quality.

  • Optimised Wavelength Selection: UV-C LEDs can be engineered to emit specific wavelengths for targeted disinfection, improving effectiveness against chosen microorganisms.

  • Lower Energy Costs: Highly efficient in dynamic flow conditions, reducing overall energy consumption.

  • Extended Lifespan: Reduced maintenance and lower total lifecycle costs.

  • No Harmful By-products: A chemical-free process that preserves aquatic ecosystems.

What Is a UV-C LED and How Is It Different from a Mercury UV Lamp?

A UV-C LED is a compact semiconductor device that emits germicidal ultraviolet light, typically between 265–280 nm. Unlike mercury vapour lamps, which use gas discharge to generate UV light and require warm-up time, UV-C LEDs produce light instantly through solid-state electronics. This makes them smaller, more robust, and free from hazardous materials like mercury. With precise wavelength control and longer operational flexibility, UV-C LEDs represent the next generation of ultraviolet disinfection for water treatment.
